Greetings from Valdez Heli-Ski Guides!
Rain, rain, rain! That’s what
happens during the fall in Alaska. Low pressure systems build up strength
as they cross the North Pacific and The Gulf of Alaska.
They
slam into the Chugach Mountains and the moisture laden clouds drop
their bounty. Up high its snow and that snowline will creep down lower
and lower as winter approaches. That’s what we like. Yes,
another season is just around the corner and we are excited as ever.
2010 looks to be another fantastic season for us. Expect to see our regular professional team of guides and support crew that you’ve gotten to know over the years. Our entire guide staff will be returning as will our pilots. Once again we are happy to be working with NorthStar helicopters and their professional staff.
Thanks again to everyone who participated in our client survey last spring. It’s important for us to make sure that we met your expectations with your adventure and we always want to hear any suggestions or comments that you may have. Congratulations to Simon Kelton who won the drawing for the Mammut Jacket! Simon has been a long time guest who has always been a strong promoter of VHSG. Thanks Simon!

I hope everyone can join us again this year. Please give us a call or drop us an email if we can help you in anyway.

Scott Raynor
Owner/Lead Guide, Valdez Heli-Ski Guides
2010 Reservations
Bookings have been steady thru out the summer and into the early fall. As usual most of our Private Packages are already booked but a few choice weeks are still available:
March 14-20, 2010
March 28-April 3, 2010
Check out our available 7 day Individual Packages on our website. We still have space in most weeks. As a reminder groups of 4 always get a 10% discount when booking for a 7 day package.
Also please note that we have a new Reservation Form that can be filled out and submitted electronically. It’s much easier than printing and faxing the Reservation Form as in years past. The Adobe pdf form can accept a digital signature and it only takes a minute to set one up if this is new to you. Our 2010 Reservation Form can be found on the Reservations Page of our website.
We hope these new discount offers will help reward those of you who promote VHSG so passionately to friends and family. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Guide Updates
Valdez Heli-Ski Guides is proud to employ year round professionals who are leaders in their respective fields of mountain guiding. So, when the rotors stop spinning on Thompson Pass, our guides pursue their passions in the mountains around the world.
This summer Scott Raynor could be found heli-ski guiding VHSG guests in Chile and exploring new ski terrain. VHSG’s meteorologist and avalanche forecaster Don Sharaf recently became the owner and operator of the American Avalanche Institute, the oldest and most respected avalanche education school in the United States. Jeff Zell, a.k.a. The Doctor, spent the summer fishing, riding, and dreaming of next years ski missions into the Lost World. Kirsten Kremer has been rock climbing this summer. She recently was in Newfoundland ascending unclimbed rock walls and is en route to Yosemite. Jed Workman spent the summer mountain guiding in the Tetons for Jackson Hole Mountain Guides. He is now back in Alaska hunting moose and getting ready for the darker days of winter. Doug Workman, also working for JHMG, guided several ski clients down the Grand Teton’s Ford Couloir. He is now preparing for a trip to the Antarctic Peninsula where he will be ski mountaineer guiding VHSG veterans up and down some of the world’s most remote snow covered peaks. Jamie Weeks has been busy all summer--fish guiding for Grand Fishing Adventures in Jackson Hole. In November he will been floating down the Grand Canyon. Dylan Freed attempted a bold first ski descent of the Archangel Ridge on 17,400’ Mount Foraker in the Alaska Range this summer, but was thwarted by bad weather and poor ski conditions. Jaime Robertson, JR, spent the summer heli-ski guiding in his native New Zealand.
