Getting to Valdez ....

Getting to Valdez is easy. First, fly into Anchorage International Airport, serviced daily by several international airlines. Most of our clients then board a quick and easy 35-minute shuttle flight with ERA Aviation, the only airline servicing Valdez from Anchorage.

Our ski week guests will want to arrive into Valdez on ERA Aviation’s Saturday afternoon flight. This flight departs Anchorage at 4:50 p.m. and arrives in Valdez at 5:30 p.m. A VHSG representative will meet you at the Valdez Airport. Depart the following Saturday on the same flight, leaving Valdez at 5:50 p.m. and arriving Anchorage at 6:30 p.m. Other ERA flights are available but these work best.

Driving to Valdez is also an option. It’s a beautiful, five-hour drive on well-maintained roads around the north side of the Chugach Mountains. All major rental car companies are available at the Anchorage Airport.

No matter how you get here, you need to be in Valdez no later than 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Lodging in Anchorage ....

Depending on your travel plans and flight times, you may want to spend a night in Anchorage before or after your week with VHSG. We recommend the Hotel Captain Cook, a five-star facility in downtown Anchorage. The nicest hotel in the state, the Captain Cook offers free airport shuttles, excellent dining in three restaurants, an athletic club, high-speed internet, a business center and a true Alaskan atmosphere. Need to make a last-minute outdoor apparel purchase? Check out their small Patagonia retail store. Also enjoy easy access to a variety of downtown Anchorage restaurants and shops.
